High Country Peruvian Horses was started in 1977 by Hans & Margarete. Their first Peruvian was Poco Rio, next came the grand daughter of Hamaca. Her name is Alenda Azul. Hans rode several of her offspring to Champion of Champions titles and although these horses are long since retired from the show ring, they are still being ridden regularly on the trails.
Don and Susan will continue with the family tradition. We aim to breed horses with strength, stamina, gait and excellent confirmation that will be versatile enough to go from the show arena to the trails. We believe that this can be achieved by breeding selectively and maintaining a small herd.
In 2005 registered Peruvian Paso Palomino Stallion SRS Zenato joined the HCP family. Zenato is an honest and willing horse, truly a pleasure to ride. This well rounded stallion excels on the mountain trails around Salmon Arm and also has a limited and successful show career to date. Watch for him at future shows.
We are located just 10 minutes west of Salmon Arm, BC and close to the Trans Canada Highway. This makes us easily accessible from anywhere in BC, Alberta and the Northwest US. |
